I don't think i've ever heard of a tornado being on the ground 27 miles, or 30 miles, or 75 MILES! To top it off, all three were EF4 ratings, one of which may be upgraded to an EF5. All three occurred in Okla on Tues, may 24, in less than 3 hrs time, 3:30-6:05 pm.
Miranda would have been a junior at Timberlake High School, my alma mater. She is the daughter of one of my sister's classmates, the oldest of 3 children. Miranda's funeral was Sat. Her boyfriend's, Austin, was today. Yes, they were together in Austin's truck when they were overtaken by the killer storm (the 75 mile long tornado), when it went through the Calumet area.
Pray for all those affected by these deadly storms. Hundreds, even thousands, have lost their jobs, schools, homes, children, and other family members, from 16 months old to 63 yrs old.
Some of you remember Operation Oak Island, where I made a connection with a church after Hurricane Ike to help that small town with their various needs, where all but one home was destroyed. That was 7 weeks after the hurricane and people were still living in tents. While there wasn't a whole lot donated through Operation Oak Island, the gratefulness of those who received was infinitely measureless.
Now it is time for Operation Piedmont and Beyond. While most of these families have been taken in by neighbors and/or other family members, there still lies a great need that those neighbors and family members cannot completely fulfill. Having experienced my mom and family losing all in 1991 to an EF4 tornado, I know that most of these families will not be back under their own roof for 8 months or more. I'm making connections with churches in the towns affected to determine needs, etc. I have one church located where members are donating their personal time and resources to doing laundry for these families. They attempted to contact Tide's mobile unit but it is still in AL for an undetermined length of time. I plan to go to Okla in mid-June and will take any and all resources to Freedom Church and any other location I come across where the resources will effectively be put to use, 100%, to those who are in need. If you would like to donate in some way, please contact me. I will not use any of the resources you're donating, including that I will be paying for my own transportation to deliver donated resources and money. I do have a connection with a ministry in the event that you would like your donations to be tax deductible.
