(CS4U) Promises Day 1

The Bible's No. 1 Promise

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16, KJV).

As I travel from country to country, I find that millions of people in many countries and cultures are receiving Christ into their lives after hearing about Him for the first time. Millions of others would respond joyfully if they fully understood the truth of John 3:16, the most wonderful promise ever given to man.

Only through His indwelling presence can they live supernaturally. The first prerequisite to supernatural living, of course, is life - eternal life, supernatural life from God. I encourage you to meditate often on the content of this God-inspired promise:

God: The omnipotent Creator - loving, sovereign, holy, all-wise, ever-present, compassionate God who flung a hundred billion or more galaxies into space merely by speaking.

So loved: His love is unconditional and inexhaustible.

He gave: a gift that can never be earned by our good works, but can be received only by faith.

His only begotten Son: the most precious, priceless gift ever given - Jesus.

That whosoever: you and I and every person who inhabits the world.

Believeth in Him: believes that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the world, the one who died on the cross for the sins of all people everywhere and who was raised from the dead.

Should not perish: should not be eternally separated from God. "The Lord...is not willing that any should perish" (2 Peter 3:9, KJV).

But have everlasting life: not only in heaven, but also on earth, experiencing the supernatural, everlasting life of the indwelling, risen Savior.

Bible Reading: Romans 5:6-11

Today's Action Point: If I am not already a believer in Christ, I will receive Him into my life as Savior and Lord today. If I am a believer and have not already done so, I will acknowledge His lordship in my life and begin to draw upon His resurrection power as a way of life. As I continue to claim His promise, I am confident that the result will be a full, abundant and supernatural life.

(CS4U) Leadership Promises - Invitations to Lead

January 1

Invitation to Lead
The call to leadership is a consistent pattern in the Bible.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth . . ." Genesis 1:26 (NIV)

God is the Ultimate Leader, and He calls every believer to lead others. God could have arranged His creation in any number of ways, but He chose to create human beings who possess spirits and the capacity to relate to Him and follow Him, yet who are not forced to do so.

When mankind fell into sin, God could have executed a plan of redemption that did not include sinful people, but He has called us to participate and to lead others as we follow Him. God made that clear from the beginning when He stated, "have dominion" (Genesis 1:28).

The call to leadership is a consistent pattern in the Bible. When God decided to raise up a nation of His own, He didn't call upon the masses. He called out one leader-Abraham. When He wanted to deliver His people out of Egypt, He didn't guide them as a group. He raised up a leader to do it-Moses. When it came time for the people to cross into the Promised Land, they followed one man-Joshua.

Every time God desired to do something great, He called a leader to step forward. Today He still calls leaders to step forward for every work-both large and small.

(CS4U) January 1 - A Fresh Start

Days of Praise
A Fresh Start
January 1, 2011

"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:22-24)

Everyone deserves a fresh start. As we start the New Year with resolutions and lofty ideals, it is good to remember that we can all renew our commitment. We can all purpose to gain even loftier heights in our spiritual journey toward Christ-likeness. No matter how far we have ascended, we can go farther; no matter how low we have fallen, we can begin again.

How can this be accomplished? As the context of our text teaches, we must go back to school--the school of Christ. "But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus" (Ephesians 4:20-21). "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29).

As our text verses explain, we must both "put off . . . the old man" and "put on the new man," clearly speaking of our manner of life, just as if we were changing clothes. If we as believers are hanging on to a few old rags, let this New Year see us obey this passage as an act of faith through the living Spirit of God: "Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 13:14).

This act of submission and desire will result as we are "renewed in the spirit |or attitude| of |our minds|" (Ephesians 4:23). The old man will not be removed or changed into the new but will be brought under control. The new man is a new creation of God modeled after Him "in righteousness and true holiness." "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works" (Ephesians 2:10). JDM

(CS4U) Leadership Promises - Take Me to Your Leader

December 31

Take Me to Your Leader

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war . . . And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses . . . And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Revelation 19:11, 14-16

In this passage from the last book of the Bible, John, the writer of Revelation, is of course describing Jesus Christ, the one who will ultimately rule the world at the end of time. In most of the Bible, Jesus is described as a humble and lowly servant. He healed the sick. He forgave the sinful. He washed the feet of fishermen, tax collectors, and the man who would betray Him. And He meekly submitted to torture and a gruesome death on the cross.

But make no mistake. Jesus is no weakling! In the book of Revelation, we see another side of His character and leadership. He is a captain of war who can rally huge heavenly armies to defeat a strong and bitter enemy. And He not only wins the day, but all eternity. That is a mark of great leaders. They have the strength to conquer, yet they stoop to help the weak and raise them up to join in the victory.
I believe in leadership. I've dedicated more than thirty years of my life teaching it. But as Jesus Himself said, "What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Matthew 16:26). If you do not have a relationship with the King of kings, Jesus Christ, then I want to invite you to enter into one. If you acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of your sins, ask for forgiveness, and invite Jesus into your heart, you will be saved, and He will become your Lord of lords. And you will join Him, the ultimate leader, in eternity.

(CS4U) December 31 - Loaded with Blessing

Sorry I'm late with this one...

Days of Praise
Loaded with Blessing
December 31, 2010

"Blessed be the LORD, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." (Psalm 68:19)

As we come to this year's end, it is salutary for the believer to think back over the days of the year and to meditate upon his blessings. He may, indeed, have experienced defeats and losses, disappointments and injuries in great number. If he is honest with himself, however, the Christian will always have to acknowledge that his blessings far outweigh his burdens. God "loadeth us with benefits," and is even working in and through all the trials and hurtful things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

In our text verse, the words "with benefits" have been supplied by the translators. Some might, therefore, conclude that the verse could mean that God is daily loading us with burdens, instead of benefits. The context, however, assures us that the emphasis is really on His blessings. For that matter, even a burden can become a blessing, if we take it as a gift from God for our spiritual benefit.

Therefore: "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Psalm 103:2). "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).

He has given us "life, and breath, and all things" (Acts 17:25). Far more importantly, He is "the God of our salvation." Whatever else we have, or don't have, in this life, we have the great gift of eternal life, through faith in Christ and His finished work of redemption. We have it every day of the year and are daily ready to meet the Lord, whenever He calls. Each day we have the indwelling presence of His Spirit, the illuminating guidance of His Word, the daily provision of all real needs, and the assurance of His love. He has surely loaded us with benefits! HMM

My grandfather,John Werner, 91, who was my father figure during my childhood, got the flu a week ago which then resulted in pneumonia this week. Yesterday he was transported to the hospital where he was admitted. The report I received today is that he is in renal failure; however, he was severely dehydrated so much that he is not swelling.
My sense is that the time has come for him to "go home", especially since he is unable to care for himself for well over a year, even to the point of barely being able to move any of his extremities. (He was unable to be at Thanksgiving or at Christmas family events this year.)  My grandmother was even close to saying the same, although she stopped in the middle of her sentence and didn't finish.
this is all quite difficult. The last couple of years have been challenging to be too far away to see Grandpa on a regular basis. I feel like I'm losing my father, since he was my father figure for over 30 yrs. My brother is quite angry about how he has been cared for over the last couple of years.
I just want Grandpa to not suffer anymore. And I want to see my brother turn to the Lord, and forgive those whom he is angry with.
Also, just need prayer  as this pain is unlike any I've ever experienced.

READ: Hebrews 11:32-40

All these . . . obtained a good testimony through faith. —Hebrews 11:39

In a letter to his son Eduard, Albert Einstein gave this advice: "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving." The great physicist's advice is wise and practical.

This wise counsel can apply to the Christian life. Many believers by faith keep moving ahead through painful and trying circumstances. But when they experience a personal moral failure, they lose their balance and fall. Their regret and feeling of unworthiness of God's forgiveness may then keep them down and they no longer move ahead in their spiritual life.

The Bible gives us many examples of those who have experienced serious personal failure. Abraham lied to Pharaoh about his wife, Sarah (Gen. 12:11-17). Jacob deceived his father to acquire Esau's blessing (Gen. 27:18-29). Moses disobeyed God by striking the rock instead of speaking to it (Num. 20:7-12). Despite their failures, we are told: "all these . . . obtained a good testimony through faith" (Heb. 11:39).

These biblical characters are lifted up as examples because after they fell, they turned back to God and began to follow Him again. Have you lost your spiritual balance through a sinful choice, which is keeping you down? Repent and follow the God of second chances once again. —Dennis Fisher

I've strayed, O Lord, and turned aside,
I've disobeyed Your voice;
But now contrite of heart I turn
And make Your will my choice. —D. De Haan

Our God is a God of second chances.
