Rules from God for 2011

 Rules from God for 2011
1. Wake Up !!
Decide to have a good day.
"Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it"
Psalms 118:24
2. Dress Up !!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart."
I Samuel 16:7

. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!.....
For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.. "Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as w e have opportunity, let us do good..."Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up !!.. To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."

Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up !!...
For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, And He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up !!..
Your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything;
Instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."

Philippians 4:6

Send this to the people you care about.
I thought this was mighty special, just like you.
Pass this on and brighten someone ' s day, and remember:

God answers prayer.

CONTINUE ........(BELOW)

(CS4U) Got Purpose?

Got Purpose?

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you."
Psalm 32:8

"What on earth does God intend for me to do with my life?" It's an easy question to ask but, for many of us, a difficult question to answer. Why? Because God's purposes aren't always clear to us. Sometimes we wander aimlessly in a wilderness of our own making. And sometimes, we struggle mightily against God in an unsuccessful attempt to find success and happiness through our own means, not His.

Sometimes, God's intentions will be clear to you; other times, God's plan will seem uncertain at best. But even on those difficult days (weeks, months and years) when you are unsure which way to turn, you must never lose sight of these overriding facts: God created you for a reason; He has important work for you to do; and He's waiting patiently for you to follow Him.

Your Move!

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the Creator of the universe, and I know that Your plan for my life is greater than I can imagine. Help me to sense Your purpose in my life and trust in the assurance of Your promises. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen

(CS4U) I didn't know that!....great geography

Subject: I didn't know that!....great geography

You're gonna say "I didn't know that!" at least 5 times.  Really neat stuff here:

Alaska

More than half of the coastline of the entire United States is in Alaska .

Amazon

The Amazon rainforest produces more than 20%

Of the world's oxygen supply.
The Amazon River pushes so much water into the Atlantic Ocean that, more than one hundred miles at sea off the mouth of the river, one can dip fresh water out of the ocean.  The volume of water in the Amazon river is greater than the next eight largest rivers in the world combined and three times the flow of all rivers in the United States .

Antarctica

Antarctica is the only land on our planet that is not owned by any country..
Ninety percent of the world's ice covers Antarctica .
This ice also represents seventy percent of all the fresh water in the world.
 As strange as it sounds, however, Antarctica is essentially a desert;
The average yearly total precipitation is about two inches.
Although covered with ice (all but 0.4% of it, ice.),
Antarctica is the driest place on the planet,
With an absolute humidity lower than the Gobi desert.

Brazil

Brazil got its name from the nut, not the other way around.

Canada

Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined. Canada is an Indian word meaning ' Big Village'.

Chicago

Next to Warsaw , Chicago has the largest Polish population
 In the world.

Detroit

Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, carries the designation M-1,
So named because it was the first paved road anywhere.

Damascus , Syria

Damascus, Syria, was flourishing a couple of thousand years
Before Rome was founded in 753 BC,
Making it the oldest continuously inhabited city in existence.

Istanbul , Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey, is the only city in the world
 Located on two continents.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles ' full name is:
El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de Porciuncula
-- and can be abbreviated to 3.63% of its size: L.A.

New York City

The term 'The Big Apple' was coined
By touring jazz musicians of the 1930s
Who used the slang expression 'apple' for any town or city.
Therefore, to play New York City
Is to play the big time - The Big Apple.

There are more Irish in New York City
 Than in Dublin , Ireland ;
More Italians in New York City
 Than in Rome , Italy ;
And more Jews in New York City

Than in Tel Aviv , Israel .

Ohio

There are no natural lakes in the state of Ohio , every one is manmade.

Pitcairn Island

The smallest island with country status is Pitcairn
In Polynesia , at just 1.75 sq. Miles/4,53 sq. Km.

Rome

The first city to reach a population of 1 million people
 Was Rome , Italy in 133 B.C.
There is a city called Rome on every continent.

Siberia

Siberia contains more than 25% of the world's forests.

S.M.O.M.

The actual smallest sovereign entity in the world
Is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (S.M.O.M).
It is located in the city of Rome , Italy ,
Has an area of two tennis courts
And, as of 2001, has a population of 80
-- 20 less people than the Vatican ..
It is a sovereign entity under international law,

Just as the Vatican is.

Sahara Desert

In the Sahara Desert , there is a town named Tidikelt , Algeria ,
Which did not receive a drop of rain for ten years.
Technically though, the driest place on Earth
is in the valleys of the Antarctic near Ross Island .
There has been no rainfall there for two million years.

Spain

Spain literally means 'the land of rabbits'.

St. Paul , Minnesota

St. Paul , Minnesota , was originally called Pig's Eye
after a man named Pierre 'Pig's Eye' Parrant
who set up the first business there.

Roads

Chances that a road is unpaved:
 in the U.S.A.. = 1%;
 in Canada = ...75%

Russia

The deepest hole ever drilled by man is the
Kola Superdeep Borehole, in Russia .
It reached a depth of 12,261 meters
(about 40,226 feet or 7.62 miles).
It was drilled for scientific research
and gave up some unexpected discoveries,
one of which was a huge deposit of hydrogen
 - so massive that the mud coming from the hole
 was boiling with it.

United States

The Eisenhower interstate system requires
that one mile in every five must be straight.
These straight sections are usable as airstrips
in times of war or other emergencies.

Waterfalls

The water of Angel Falls (the world's highest) in Venezuela
 drops 3,212 feet (979 meters).

They are 15 times higher than Niagara Falls .

(CS4U) God and Your Patience

God and Your Patience

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Hebrews 10:36

Patience is not just the ability to wait; it is the ability to keep a good attitude while you are doing it. God knows the exact time for everything, and while your impatience can make you and everybody else around you miserable, it will not rush Him. Listen: "in due season we shall reap" (Galatians 6:9). "Due season" is God's season, not ours. We are in a hurry, He is not. He takes the time to do things right. We may not know what He is doing but He does, and that will have to be good enough for us. God's timing seems to be His own business. He is never late but He is not early either. He takes every opportunity to develop in us the fruit of patience. But other fruits are being developed in us as well. There are several things that must arrive at the finish line at the same time in order for us to win the race! Developed potential without character does not glorify God one bit. If we were to become a huge success yet be harsh with people that would not be pleasing to the Lord. Therefore, if we get ahead of ourselves in one area, He gently but firmly blocks our progress in that area until the others catch up. We do not appreciate any of this while it is happening, but later on we realize what an awful mess we would have made if things had been done on our timetable instead of God's.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to be more patient in waiting on you to reveal what is next in my life! Help me trust your timing. In Jesus' Name, Amen

(CS4U) Are You Covetous? - Part 3

Are You Covetous? - Part 3

You shall not covet.
Exodus 20:17

Be careful what you beg God for; in time you may come to hate the thing you had to have! Listen: "The Lord will give you meat until it comes out of your nostrils" (Numbers 11:18-20). God was pretty ticked off with this bunch. Why? Because they thought something else could satisfy them in a way that He could not. So He gave them so much, they choked on it. David writes, "He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul" (Psalm 106:15). Try to understand this: with God, you can be satisfied with very little; without Him, all your accomplishments will leave you empty. What are you craving? Putting your life on hold for? Continually begging God for? Nothing is essential but God. Things were never designed to take His place! When we covet something and make it essential - then beg God to give it to us - we are asking Him to replace Himself with something we consider more important. When we do this, God may allow us to experience the consequences. And they are not pretty! Do not reach the end of your life only to look back with regret on a shattered marriage, prodigal children, a blighted conscience, and the pain of having missed God's will. Our problem is not that we do not want God; it is that we want God and the perfect spouse, an impressive career, the house by the lake, or whatever catches our fancy next. What will it take for us to come to that settled place where the central desire of our lives is "God, I just want You."

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me with my struggle with the two natures. Help me to daily drown that Old Adam that is in me and put on the New Adam in Christ Jesus. In Your Precious Name, Amen

(CS4U) Are You Covetous? - Part 2

Are You Covetous? - Part 2

You shall not covet.
Exodus 20:17

Why do you keep caving in to sinful desires? 1) Because you have two natures. Like two cars approaching a junction at the same time, your old and new natures are constantly on a collision course. 2) When you dwell on a desire, yielding is only a matter of time. Ever go to your fridge when you are not hungry but are not really satisfied, looking for something to grab you? As bad as that is, it is worse when you do it in life. It is like surfing the web of behavior options, looking for something to make you happier than you are at this particular moment. When you covet something you make it more attractive and accessible than it really is. Eating too much? "I'll diet tomorrow." Smoking? "I know people who've smoked for 50 years and are still healthy." A one-night stand? "Nobody will ever know!" Covetousness maximizes the desire while it minimizes the danger. Understand this: it is impossible to dwell on a desire for any length of time without rationalizing a way to get it. Like starting the countdown on the Space Shuttle, it is just a matter of time until lift off. So, if you are dwelling on it, set the clock: yielding is inevitable. What is the answer? Change your focus! Listen: "Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit" (Romans 8:5).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me with my struggle with the two natures. Help me to daily drown that Old Adam that is in me and put on the New Adam in Christ Jesus. In Your Precious Name, Amen

Our Daily Bread is hosted by Les Lamborn

READ: Matthew 6:1-6,16-18

Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. —Matthew 6:6

Recently I attended a memorial service for a gifted musician whose life had touched many people. The tribute to this Christian woman included video and audio clips, photos, instrumentalists, and speakers. After everyone had left the church, I stopped to thank the technicians whose flawless work at the control board had contributed so much to this moving tribute. "No one noticed what you did," I told them. "That's the way we like it," they replied.

In Matthew 6, Jesus told His disciples to give (vv.1-4), pray (vv.5-6), and fast (vv.16-18) in order to please God, not to gain praise from people. "When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place" (v.6). Whether giving, praying, or fasting, Jesus said, "Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly" (vv.4,6,18).

Something within us makes us want to be seen and recognized for our good deeds. While there's nothing wrong with encouragement and appreciation, a desire for praise can undermine our service because it shifts the focus from others to ourselves. When there is no public "thank you," we may feel slighted. But even when we serve God in secret, He sees it all. —David McCasland

The service that we do for God
May go unpraised by men;
But when we stand before the Lord,
He will reward us then. —Sper

It is better to earn recognition without getting it than to get recognition without earning it.
