(CS4U) Little known 9/11 story...

This is little-known story from the Pentagon on 09/11/2001:

During a visit with a fellow chaplain, who happened to be assigned to the Pentagon, I had a chance to hear a first-hand account of an incident that happened right after Flight 77 hit the Pentagon. The chaplain told me what happened at a daycare center near where the impact occurred.

This daycare had many children, including infants who were in heavy cribs.  The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do. There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants that would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers.

Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, 'Well, there we
are - on our own.'

About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow.  Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac and the Pentagon. Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing - they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to

keep them from wandering off. Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children.

The chaplain then said, "I don't think any of us saw nor heard of
this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there.

There wasn't a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them?
It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon.

Remember Ronald Reagan's great compliment: "Most of us wonder if
our lives made any difference. Marines don't have that problem."

God Bless the USA , our troops, and you.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name,
will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.  It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.  It's the Military, not the
politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men
and women who have served and are currently serving our country and pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

"I expect to pass through this
world but once; any good therefore that I can do... let me do it now ...for I shall not pass this way again."

The attached video is one of the most powerful video's I have seen.  With the holidays upon us, PLEASE don't do anything stupid.  Life is too short and precious.
This needs to passed around to every human being who has the keys to a vehicle and the capability of driving while under the influence with impaired judgment and the possibility of causing a life changing incident to happen to everyone he or she comes in contact with while in this condition.  This is perhaps one of the most intense commercials that I've ever seen.
I hope that by passing this along to others, that it will make a difference and maybe save a life today or tomorrow or in the future.
Australia should be complimented on having the guts to "tell it like it is" and get this campaign out to all of its licensed drivers and to air it on TV...it is very moving and very lifelike so it has a very strong impact.

(CS4U) The Fear of the Lord

TheFear of the Lord

"Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil."
Proverbs 15:16

respect of You and to honor You in all I do. Amen

Do you possess a healthy, fearful respect for God's power? The words in Proverbs 1:7 are clear: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline". Yet, we live in a world that often ignores the role that God plays in shaping the affairs of mankind. We live in a world where too many people consider it "unfashionable" or "inappropriate" to discuss the fear of God.

To fear God is to acknowledge His sovereignty over every aspect of His creation (including you). To fear God is to place your relationship with God in its proper perspective (He is your master; you are His servant). To fear God is to dread the very thought of disobeying him. To fear God is to humble yourself in the presence of His infinite power and His infinite love.

The fear of the Lord is, indeed, the beginning of knowledge. So today, as you face the realities of everyday life, remember this: until you acquire a healthy, respectful fear of God's power, your education is incomplete, and so is your faith.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You love me and protect me. I praise You for Your grace and mercy. You are the Maker of all things and the Ruler over all things including my heart, soul, mind and strength. Help me to have a fearful

Re: (CS4U) Future of America--not political--just economics.....

Amazing how all this is coming to fruition. I'd read about such
things a decade or two ago, and it didn't seem possible. I have
picked up some of the books that predicted all this that were written
in the 80's and 90's, and am reading them again, and they were right
on. Too bad I didn't heed the red alert. If I had, I wouldn't be in
such bad financial shape now! It is indeed becoming a strange
uncertain new world.
In the Early 90's I was cleaning offices for a company, and I would
read the stuff in the trash...catalogs and the business junk mail. I
read ad's in the business magazines that talked about the "paperless"
system. It seemed so far fetched, but look at all this now!
I still keep a landline phone, no matter what. It works when the
power is out, and when there is no internet or phone service, like in
a winter ice storm.

(CS4U) Fwd: Fw: Happy Saturday, Paul

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.
                  ( Job 8:21 *NIV )

Now does God have a sense of humor?   Well it is written:

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh
                                  ( Psalm 2:4 *NKJV)

Dear Paul,
Now I know I have taken the *2nd verse totally out of context,
but God does demonstrate His sense of humor throughout
  the Scriptures.

Remember the words of Sarah, Abraham's wife, when God
told her she would have a baby at her old age.  She replied,

"God has made me laugh, and all who hear will
  laugh with me."                   ( Genesis 21:6 )

Remember also that Abraham named their child Isaac, which
  in Hebrew means "laughter."

Therefore Paul, I am sure our Heavenly Father will not mind
if I share with you a message that I received from our sister's.
After all it is said that laughter is the best medicine!  So, I hope
you will enjoy this, and start your day with a good laugh indeed!

                                Praise The Lord!

There's a little old Christian lady living next door to an atheist.
Every morning the lady comes out onto her front porch and
  shouts "Praise the Lord!".

Now the atheist yells back, "There is no God".  Yet She does
this every morning with the same result.  As time goes on the
lady runs into financial difficulties and has trouble buying food.
So she goes out onto the porch and asks God for help with
groceries, then says "Praise the Lord".

The next morning she goes out onto the porch and there's the
groceries she'd asked for, and, of course she says "Praise the
Lord".  The atheist jumps out from behind a bush and says, "Ha,
I bought those groceries - there is no God".

The lady looks at him, smiles and shouts "Praise the Lord,
not only did You provide for me Lord, You made satan pay for
  it!!!!".

Have a Wonderful Weekend Paul, and may it be filled
with Peace, Love, Joy, and a little laughter as well.   Amen.

For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime,

And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I feel that I'm composed of each remembered name.

(CS4U) Today's Drive

During my drive to Angeli's for the big sale today, I noticed all the
towers that have gone up for cell phones and such. I was pondering
all the "UNSEEN" energies that bring us this instant communication to
our cell phones. Invisible, yet very real. We can't see it, but we
believe in it because our phones are a witness to the fact that it's
real and it works.
So it is with God. All this technology is a powerful witness for HIM
and all the unseen ways He communicates with us in spirit. We know
it's real when we are enveloped in a Holy Spirit hug when we need
comfort. We know that our thoughts and prayers are immediately
communicated to the God who is Right Here, Right NOW.

(CS4U) A Time of Protection

Week 48 Day 4

"Then Boaz said to Ruth...'Watch which field they reap, and follow them.  Have I not charged the young men not to molest you?'"

Ruth 2:  8, 9

Amplified Bible

"Harvest-Time"

A Time of Protection

"Lord, hour by hour,

Be Thou my Guide,

That, by Thy power,

No step may slide."

Source Unknown

Do I daily ask my Father to cover me with His protective wings of love?

"Father, I am seeking: I am hesitant and uncertain, but will You, O God, watch over each step of mine and guide me."

St. Augustine

"As the rain hides the stars, as the autumn mist hides the hills, as the clouds veil the blue of the sky, so the dark happenings of my lot hide the shining of Thy face from me.  Yet, if I may hold Thy hand in the darkness, it is enough.  Since I know that, though I may stumble in my going, Thou dost not fall."

Celtic

(Source Unknown)

When, as a young adult, my dad, who was orphaned as a baby, began to find out more about his family roots, he learned that some of his family's ancestors came from England and Ireland.  Maybe this is why one of my greatest desires regarding travel has been to possibly some day visit these countries that I find, in picture, so overwhelmingly beautiful.

Unlike some who find the mist on the hills a rather scary visual, I love it when, in one of the many British movies I've collected through the years, the camera takes a viewer like myself through the shadowy fog that blankets the lush green hills above the stark, rocky cliffs around these "Isles."

Here in the United States, on the coast of California, there is a place called Half Moon Bay where a gorgeous hotel is perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. One year, Jim and I went there to celebrate my birthday, for as Jim later told me, a friend had shared with him that this was a geographical region that reminded him of his own home in Scotland.

Clouds which lie on the beautiful land and ocean have always reminded me of the protective covering our Father promises to blanket each one of us with.

In Deuteronomy 32: 10, which is one of my favorite texts, there is the promise I love to claim that lets me know I have a Father, whose protection, like a canopy, covers me every day: "God found (her) out in the wilderness, in an empty, windswept wasteland.  He threw His arms around (her), lavished attention on (her), guarding (her) as the apple of His eye.  He was like an eagle hovering over its nest, overshadowing its young, then spreading its wings, lifting them into the air, teaching them to fly.  God alone led (her)" (Deuteronomy 32: 10-12, The Message Bible).

I want to stop a moment and ask you to imagine what it was like as Naomi and Ruth traversed the desert land between Moab and Bethlehem.  This is a place where still today the wind blows the sand across barren land. Think what it was like for these women traveling by foot or on donkey, making their way through the harsh land back to the House of Bread.  In your mind's eye, can you see that covering, the canopy of God's sanctuary, over them as His protective shelter kept His two daughters within His love and care.

But God's protection wasn't just meant for a journey across the desert.  God's protection was also visible during "Harvest-Time" in Bethlehem when Boaz came to Ruth and informed her that no one would be "molesting" her as the Amplified Bible translates this text.  In the King James Version of the Bible, Boaz, told Ruth that he had instructed the young men, "They shall not touch thee (Ruth)" (Ruth 2: 9, K.J.V.). The Hebrew translation gives us a more vivid picture by shedding light on the word "touch," which means to: "lay a hand upon for any purpose.  To strike.  To plague or bother.  To come nigh."

I want to take this last phrase, "to come nigh," and go to the words of David in Psalms 91: 7 (K.J.V.), "A thousand shall fall at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." A promise of protection from our Father.

Now you may be wondering, what about all the innocent people who have terrible things happen to them every day?

We must never forget that God's presence and protection are promised not to keep us from the fires of life, but to be with us in the fires of life. Daniel 3: 23-25(K.J.V.) is one of my favorite stories in the entire Bible for the encouragement it brings to all our hearts when we are thrown in the fire and when someone has dared to come nigh and touch one of God's children. "And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.  Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counselors, 'Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?'  They answered and said unto the king, 'True, O king.'  He answered and said, 'Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have NO hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God'"

Just like these three Hebrew young men, Ruth and Naomi came "bound" to Bethlehem by the chains of poverty and death.  They were, like the three Hebrews knocked down - they'd fallen off their feet and found themselves in the midst of fiery trial. However, it was at the moment of greatest peril when the Most High walked within the furnace with them.

When I was young, as I've shared with you in the past, my grandma would give my sister and me an "allowance" based on memorizing passages of Scripture.  One of the first chapters in the Bible Grandma shared with me was Psalm 91, which contained some of her favorite verses in the entire Bible.

Psalm 91 begins with this fabulous promise and I'm changing the gender for God's daughter's (and I hope all the men who come to the garden won't mind.)  "She that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him will I trust...He shall cover thee with His feathers and under His wings shalt thou trust." (Psalm 91: 1-4, K.J.V.).

It's "Harvest-Time" in Bethlehem.  You and I, along with Naomi and Ruth have come home to a Father who compassionately opens His arms and welcomes us as part of His family -- His daughters and sons. And then He protects us under His wings and promises that nothing will come nigh us that will not be for our eternal good and His eternal glory.

"O God, our Help in ages past,

Our Hope for years to come,

Our Shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal Home!

Beneath the shadow of Thy throne

Thy saints have dwelt secure;

Sufficient is Thine arm alone,

And our defense is sure."

Isaac Watts

"Thou angel of God who has charge of me

From the dear Father of mercifulness,

The shepherding kind of the fold of the saints

To make round about me this night;

Drive from me every temptation and danger,

Surround me on the sea of unrighteousness,

And in the narrows, crooks, and straits,

Keep thou my coracle, keep it always.

Be thou a bright flame before me;

Be thou a guiding star above me,

Be thou a smooth path below me,

And be a kindly shepherd behind me,

Today, tonight, and forever."

(CS4U) Double

RISE AND SHINE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

December 2, 2010

Discover yourself to reclaim your destiny

Meditations for your quiet moments

Use Your Double Portion of Speaking Power

God calls us "a royal priesthood". This means that we are kings as well as priests under the king-priesthood of Jesus Christ. This has never happened before in the history of God's people. In the Old Testament, kings and priests were two distinct groups of people. You were either a king or priest, but not both at the same time.

And as a king-priest parent, when you bless your children, your words have the power to set in motion supernatural events which will bring them into God's prosperous abundance and super abounding grace. And there will be such a courage and resilience about them that it will empower them to win the fights of life!

When the devil comes to you and says that you will die young because your father and grandfather died young, or that you will never be successful because you are not well-educated, you must remember that the devil is neither a king nor a priest. There is no power in his words. But there is power in yours because you are a king-priest in Christ!

So instead of agreeing with him, believe and declare, "With long life He will satisfy me and show me His salvation!" Say, "The Lord will make my way prosperous and give me good success!" Use your double portion of speaking power and see these blessings come to pass!

Rediscovering Amazement

by Max Lucado

"I am with you always…"
Matthew 28:20

From where I write I can see seven miracles.

White-crested waves slap the beach with rhythmic regularity. One after the other the rising swells of salt water gain momentum, humping, rising, then standing to salute the beach before crashing onto the sand. How many billions of times has this simple mystery repeated itself since time began?

In the distance lies a miracle of colors—twins of blue. The ocean-blue of the Atlantic encounters the pale blue of the sky, separated only by the horizon, stretched like a taut wire between two poles.

Also within my eyesight are the two bookends of life. A young mother pushes a baby in a carriage, both recent participants with God in the miracle of birth. They pass a snowy-haired, stooped old gentleman seated on a bench, a victim of life's thief—age. (I wonder if he is aware of the curtain closing on his life.)

Behind them are three boys kicking a soccer ball on the beach. With effortless skill they coordinate countless muscles and reflexes, engage and disengage perfectly designed joints … all to do one task—move a ball in the sand.

Miracles. Divine miracles.

These are miracles because they are mysteries. Scientifically explainable? Yes. Reproducible? To a degree.

But still they are mysteries. Events that stretch beyond our understanding and find their origins in another realm. They are every bit as divine as divided seas, walking cripples, and empty tombs.

And they are as much a reminder of God's presence as were the walking lame, fleeing demons, and silenced storms. They are miracles. They are signs. They are testimonies. They are instantaneous incarnations. They remind us of the same truth: The unseen is now visible. The distant has drawn near. His Majesty has come to be seen. And he is in the most common of earth's corners.

In fact, it is the normality not the uniqueness of God's miracles that causes them to be so staggering. Rather than shocking the globe with an occasional demonstration of deity, God has opted to display his power daily. Proverbially. Pounding waves. Prism-cast colors. Birth, death, life. We are surrounded by miracles. God is throwing testimonies at us like fireworks, each one exploding, "God is! God is!"

The psalmist marveled at such holy handiwork. "Where can I go from your Spirit?" he questioned with delight. "Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there." (Psalm 139:7-8)

We wonder, with so many miraculous testimonies around us, how we could escape God. But somehow we do. We live in an art gallery of divine creativity and yet are content to gaze only at the carpet.

Or what is pathetically worse, we demand more. More signs. More proof. More hat tricks. As if God were some vaudeville magician we could summon for a dollar.

How have we grown so deaf? How have we grown so immune to awesomeness? Why are we so reluctant to be staggered or thunderstruck?

Perhaps the frequency of the miracles blinds us to their beauty. After all, what spice is there in a springtime or a tree blossom? Don't the seasons come every year? Aren't there countless seashells just like this one?

Bored, we say Ho-hum and replace the remarkable with the regular, the unbelievable with the anticipated. Science and statistics wave their unmagic wand across the face of life, squelching the oohs and aahs and replacing them with formulas and figures.
