(CS4U) Unrealistic Expectations - Part 2 (THIS IS A VERY GOOD ONE!!)

----------

Unrealistic Expectations - Part 2

He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.
John 2:25

Unrealistic expectations affect us in different areas. First, we have unrealistic expectations of ourselves. When we do things poorly we feel bad. That sets in motion a never-ending cycle of reaching for things that are out of our reach, hoping to prove something we do not have to prove in the first place. We think we should be able to do what others do, yet if we are not similarly gifted we cannot excel in it. You do not need to prove anything! Just obey God and allow Him to take care of your reputation. As long as you expect to excel outside of your gifting and calling, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Unrealistic expectations also affect us in our relationships with others. To make somebody else responsible for your happiness, or you for theirs is a huge mistake. Abraham Lincoln said, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their mind to be." If people do not have the right outlook on life, you, and 100 others like you, will not make them happy. Unrealistic expectations concerning circumstances also set us up for disappointment. Listen: "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Here Jesus is saying, "As long as you are in the world you will have problems. Nobody gets a free pass. But do not worry; I have got everything under control." So learn to be realistic. You will always have to deal with unpleasant situations and difficult people. But your attitude (not theirs), is what will determine whether or not you enjoy life!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me healthy expectations about myself and others so that I can enjoy life knowing you! In Jesus' Name, Amen

(CS4U) Daily Grace Inspirations with Joseph Prince

How Do You See God?

Luke 7:9
9
When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"

The way you see Jesus, the revelation that you have of Him, will not affect God's acceptance of you. But it will affect your acceptance of what God has for you. It will affect how you receive from Him.

Consider the Roman centurion who told Jesus, "You don't have to come to my house. Just speak the word and my servant at home will be healed." (Luke 7:6–7) Compare him with Jairus, the ruler of a synagogue, who told Jesus, "My daughter is dying. Please come to my house and lay Your hands on her, and she shall live." (Mark 5:22–23)

Do you know that Jesus does not have to go to your house to heal you? So why did Jesus follow Jairus to his house? Jesus had to come down to Jairus' level of faith. Jairus believed that his daughter could be healed, but only if Jesus came and laid His hands on her.

The centurion was different. He said, "Lord, You don't have to come to my house. I know who You are." This centurion believed that Jesus did not have to come to his house for his servant to be healed. He believed that Jesus only needed to speak the word. He said to Jesus, "Just speak the word and my servant at home will be healed."

Do you know who Jesus is? The centurion had a greater understanding of who Jesus is than Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, and he wasn't even a Jew!

Jesus asked his disciples, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" (Mark 4:40) He even remarked, "O you of little faith." (Matthew 6:30) But to the woman whose daughter was demon-possessed, He said, "O woman, great is your faith!" (Matthew 15:28) And to the centurion, He declared, "I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!"

My desire is for you to have an accurate understanding of who Jesus is because when your revelation of Jesus is big, you will know what has been freely given to you. And when you know what is yours in Christ Jesus, you will be rich in all things!

(CS4U) Jonah Test!

Jonah Test

A little girl was observed by her pastor standing outside the pre-school Sunday School classroom between Sunday School and worship, waiting for her parents to come and pick her up for "big church." The pastor noticed that she clutched a big storybook under her arms with the obvious title, "Jonah and the Whale."

Feeling a little pernicious, he knelt down beside the little girl and began a conversation. "What's that you have in your hand?", he asked.

"This is my storybook about Jonah and the Whale," she answered.

"Tell me something, little girl," he continued, "do you believe that story about Jonah and that whale to be the truth?"

The little girl implored, "Why of course I believe this story to be the truth!"

He inquired further, "You really believe that a man can be swallowed up by a big whale, stay inside him all that time, and come out of there still alive and OK? You really believe all that can be true?"

She declared, "Absolutely, this story is in the Bible and we studied about it in Sunday School today!"

Then the pastor asked, "Well, little girl, can you prove to me that this story is the truth?"

She thought for a moment and then said, "Well, when I get to Heaven, I'll ask Jonah."

The pastor then asked, "Well, what if Jonah's not in Heaven?"

She then put her hands on her little hips and sternly declared, "Then YOU can ask him!"

Re: (CS4U) LuAnn!!!!!!

Wonderful hearing from you LuAnn.  Sounds like you're getting some R&R and also having productive time.  I know I did the library thing when my computer was "in the hospital" and it wasn't very convenient.  You have to sign and sign and then you're timed and then worry about security.  But sometimes a computer "fast" can be a good thing too.  Glad you enjoyed you're little get away.  And, thank you for keeping us in your prayers as you remain in ours.
Hugs,
Toni

(CS4U) Unrealiztic Expectations

Unrealistic Expectations - Part 1

He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.
John 2:25

"I shouldn't expect anything of them?" No, you should expect the best and encourage it, but never forget that they are just people. When Jesus' disciples disappointed Him, it did not devastate Him. Listen: "He needed no evidence from anyone about men; for He Himself knew what was in human nature" (John 2:25). Jesus expected His disciples to do their best, but He knew that even their best would still be imperfect. And you need to understand that about your loved ones too, and treat them accordingly. The perfect marriage, the perfect friend, the perfect job, the perfect neighborhood, the perfect church do not exist! God knew that, so He gave us the instructions on how to handle people who disappoint us. Listen: "Bear [endure, carry] one another's burdens and troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). "What is the law of Christ?" you ask. Jesus answers: "I give you a new commandment, just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another" (John 13:34). We must love His way - without condition and without pressure. Admittedly, it is easier to talk about how to treat the irritating people in our lives than it is to do it. But God never commands you to do what He will not give you the grace to carry out. And the great thing is, in the process of carrying it out, you will become more like Jesus!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to accept and love as you do, so that in all things I do, you may be glorified. In Jesus' Name, Amen

DAILY PRAYER

Lord please bless, keep, and guide each person this message reaches. Throughout each and every day, bless them with health, healing, and the abundant supply needed and keep them safe.  No matter the weather, temperatures, or other circumstances that should try to cause our body, mind or our spirits to be tried and tested! Guide them as they pray, ask and require.

Lord we humbly ask you for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that would bring a worldwide revival, so that we can do all we can to help each other and our leaders to seek you and your wisdom, knowledge and understanding in all things to serve everyone they represent with honor and integrity and a heart of service.

Lord we ask that you send your ministering and warring angels and guard the hearts, minds, and bodies of all those that serve in the armed forces fighting for freedom from terrorism or any other threat to peace.  That you also be with their families and loved ones and keep them safe and supplied with all they need.  Be with those soldiers and their families that have been wounded in their bodies or minds in their time of service.

Lord in these hard economic times we ask that you stretch our funds, and supply us and our families with all our needs and more, so that we might help others who are in need to see your love from your people. Help us have charity/love in our hearts for those in our family and in our local areas that need food, clothing and housing,

prayer, jobs, or direction.

Let us not get so wrapped up in our problems that we forget others. Let us remember your word says give, it shall be given, and in blessing, I will bless you.

Have a wonderfully blessed and prosperous day in the Lord today!

TODAYS DEVOTIONS

Morning

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee. (Num. 6:24)

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (Prov. 10:22) Thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. (Psa. 5:12)

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. (Psa. 121:3, 5, 7, 8) I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. (Isa. 27:3)

Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept. (John 17:11, 12)

The Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (2 Tim. 4:18)

Evening

Jesus wept. (John 11:35)

A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. (Isa. 53:3) We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. (Heb. 4:15) It became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Heb. 2:10) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered. (Heb. 5:8)

I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. (Isa. 50:5, 6)

Behold how he loved. (John 11:36) He took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. In all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. (Heb. 2:16, 17)

This years devotions are taken from:

-Daily Light on the Daily Path, by Samuel Bagster Ed. 1-

Daily Light on the Daily Path or Daily Light is a Christian daily devotional scripture reading

published by Samuel Bagster about 1875. It has been reprinted continually since then.

There are many scripture references in each of them, I would encourage you to

look them up and read them in context.
