(CS4U) A non-partisan request

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests".
- Patrick Henry -

I have totally cleaned this e-mail from all other names, sending it to you in hopes you will keep it going and keep it clean. (USE ONLY BCC TO INSERT ALL THE E-MAIL ADDY'S YOU SENT IT TO)  I hope you all read it all the way through. You will be glad you did.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.

You are one of my 20+. Please keep it going.

We all must stand for something or we will fall for anything.

When prayers go up....blessings come down

(CS4U) Words to Follow

 Interesting....
Someone has written these beautiful words.
Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it.
They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

1]
Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out
when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that
directs the right path throughout.

2]
Why is a Car's WINDSHIELD is so large &
the Rear View Mirror so small? Because our PAST
is not as important as our FUTURE. Look Ahead
and Move on.

3]
Friendship is like a BOOK.  It takes years to
write, but only a few seconds to burn.

4]
All things in life are temporary. If going well,
enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong,
don't worry, they can't last long either.

5]
Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamonds!
If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because
to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6]
Often when we lose hope and think this is the end,
GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart,
it's just a bend, not the end!

7]
When GOD solves your problems, you have faith
in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems
HE has faith in your abilities.

8]
A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there
be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied:
"Yes, losing your vision!"

9]
When you pray for others, God listens to you and
blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy,
remember that someone has prayed for you.

10]
WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's
TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

If you enjoy this, please pass to others.
It may brighten someone's day.

(CS4U) Update on my brother-in-law

Thank you for your prayers.  I spoke with them this morning and he is doing very well.  No cath, no problems.  The MRSA is gone from the urine and should be cleared up nasally over the week end.  They have meds now that can treat it.  I know years ago it was Very hard to treat. Things were scary there for awhile.  I still wonder what the initial cause was and think perhaps the MRSA was secondary from all the things they were and were not doing in between.  But, nevertheless, PTL he is doing fine!!

Re: (CS4U) I'm Back

Oh Paul so glad you are back!!!  Is everything settled back in Idaho?Did you just get in today (Fri?).  I know about the heat.  It's been here for over a week as well.  The other day the heat index here was 110.  It's hotter where I'm at because I'm not in the city near the lake. They had to close some beaches because of bacteria in the water, but not all.  But the ones that are open aren't really all that crowded, it's just too hot/humid. Seven people have died from the heat in the area. Yesterday a 17 year old boy died from heat related problems.  Before that we had very severe storms and thousands and thousands of people were without  power for a week.  But just in time it got restored for most when the severe heat hit.
I was going to post and see if some would check in with their weather report!  I've had to stay in too.
We're going to have a "cold spell".  Temps are going to be high 80's low 90's over the week end!! But still humid, which raises the heat index.
I have discovered I don't like it quite that hot with the humidity.  It really wipes me out.
We haven't heard from Sue and I have been wondering how she is.  I have kept her in my prayers.  Is Chris still getting married in a week?
I just hope everyone is praying for our country/government.  Things are not looking very well when the talks stopped today.  I guess they will have more talks over the week end but it doesn't appear it will be any solution.
Many people, like me rely on my SSD as my only income and Medicare as my only insurance.  Veteran benefits may be cut too.  So we really need to pray.
It is good to have you back.  I'm sure everyone is happy you're home!

(CS4U) Update on Prayer Requst

Thank you all SO much for your prayers.  I have another update and it's GOOD news!!  After my brother-in-law was released from the hospital he had to see the doc in a week.  He did and the doc put in a new cath; told him to remove it the next day and if he could not urinate to call.
Well he did as he was told and PTL he did fine.  I just talked with them and he's been fine ever since.  He's on meds for the MRSA.  It's cleared from the urine now and it is in his nose but should be cleared up by tomorrow.
So, once again our Lord heard our prayers and found favor in them..Thank you all so much!!
It is such a relief because it seemed everything was going wrong.  They (in my opinion) probably could of taken care of it sooner, but the main thing is he's OK now!!!  PTL!!!
Love and HUGS,
Toni

(CS4U) God Will Go With You

Do you sometimes feel so all alone, And wish someone would call you on the phone? Are there days when you wonder why you are here and why your heart's so full of fear? Do you think no one else has felt that way, And that all the others are having a great day? What you are thinking may be true, But chances are, others are feeling just like you. Ask God to undertake for you, To show you what he would have you do. There may be someone you should touch, Someone who needs you very much. God has a reason for you being here and He can overcome your fear. Go to Him, boldly, in Christ's name. He will take away your guilt and shame. He will lead you into the bright sunshine and show to you His will divine. Just follow Him with what you know. He will teach you more and with you go. You can know He's with you every day, Leading and guiding you along life's way; Giving you peace and joy within, Forgiving and cleansing you from your sin. So, don't give up and don't despair. God will go with you everywhere. Christ understands the way you feel. His fellowship and love are real.

(CS4U) The Rescue of Roger Locher

I RECEIVED THIS FROM A FRIEND. I HAD TO COPY AND PASTE THE URL TO WATCH IT, IT DIDN'T WORK BY JUST CLICKING ON THE LINK.  BUT THAT COULD BE MY PC'S PROBLEM!!
Toni

I sincerely hope everyone sees and listens to this video. I agree about it being uplifting and for me really sobering to hear of this remarkable achievement.
I especially liked the reference to the movie Platoon by Oliver Stone who is incapable of making a pro American movie.
Brig. Gen. Steve Ritchie compares this inspiring true story of true American virtues to the fantasy of Oliver Stone's make believe story. Quite a contrast!

So then faith comes by hearing, and
Hearing by the word of God.
          ( Romans 10:17 *NKJV )

Just as our bodies' hunger and thirst, so do our souls.
However our souls need Spiritual food and water.  This food
And water may be found in God's Word, the Holy Bible!
For the word of God is living and powerful, and
Sharper than any two- edged sword.
                                    ( Hebrews 4:12 )

However, reading the Bible not only nourishes
Our souls, it also helps us deal with everyday problems.  We
Also gain knowledge and wisdom from God's Word.  It even
Helps to bring us out of depression, anguish, and
Worry as well.  What a wonderful book it is!  Why not spend
A little time each day reading it?  You will find that each page
You read will bring you a little closer to our Heavenly Father,
And what a wonderful journey that is!  After all Jesus' said;
"My mother and My brothers are these who hear
The word of God and do it."     ( Luke 8:21 )

So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to
The word of His grace, which is able to build you
Up and give you an inheritance among all those
Who are sanctified.  Amen.       ( Acts 20:32-33 )

(CS4U) Welcome AmyTomei

Hello and Welcome Amy!
My name is Toni, a moderator of the group.  I live in Illinois, am divorced, no Human children.  I have a little dog who is a Chihuaha but a mix, I think.  He has all Chichuaha features except is close to 14 lbs.!  I adooped him on Valentine's Day in 2009 and renamed him Cupid.
I've been around here in the group a long time but have been missing in action for awhle for several reasons.  Some personal issues, Major computer issues, etc., etc.
I hope to be able to get back in the swing of things.  The group has been very slow recently but I imagine it will pick up at the end of summer.
I always enjoy welcoming new members.  I read Tammy's intro.  Whatever you are dealing with never hesitate to ask for prayer.  We are a group of loving Christians who are here to offer support, prayer, chat, discuss with, etc., etc.  We send clean jokes as well.
I look forward to your "jumping in" and telling us about yourself as you wish and getting to know you!
Toni

Re: (CS4U) The DENTED BUCKET

On Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 2:46 PM, Janice <pinkydoodle@windstream.net> wrote:

 THE OLD DENTED BUCKET

Our house was directly across the street from the clinic entrance of  Johns Hopkins Hospital in  Baltimore .  We lived downstairs and rented the upstairs rooms to out-patients at the clinic.
One summer evening as I was fixing supper, there was a knock at the door.  I opened it to see a truly awful looking man.  "Why, he's hardly taller than my 8-year-old," I thought as I stared at the stooped, shriveled body.  But the appalling thing was his face, lopsided from swelling, red and raw.
Yet his voice was pleasant as he said, "Good evening.  I've come to see if you've a room for just one night.  I came for a treatment this morning from the eastern shore, and there's no bus 'til morning."
He told me he'd been hunting for a room since noon but with no success, no one seemed to have a room.  "I guess it's my face .... I know it looks terrible, but my doctor says with a few more treatments .."
For a moment I hesitated, but his next words convinced me: "I could sleep in this rocking chair on the porch.  My bus leaves early in the morning."
I told him we would find him a bed, but to rest on the porch..  I went inside and finished getting supper.  When we were ready, I asked the old man if he would join us.  "No, thank you.  I have plenty."  And he held up a
brown paper bag
When I had finished the dishes, I went out on the porch to talk with him a few minutes.  It didn't take a long time to see that this old man had an oversized heart crowded into that tiny body.  He told me he fished for a living to support his daughter, her 5 children, and her husband, who was hopelessly crippled from a back injury.
He didn't tell it by way of complaint; in fact, every other sentence was preface with a thanks to God for a blessing.  He was grateful that no pain accompanied his disease, which was apparently a form of skin cancer.  He thanked God for giving him the strength to keep going...
   At bedtime, we put a
camp cot in the children's room for him.  When I got up in the morning, the bed linens were neatly folded and the little man was out on the porch.
He refused breakfast, but just before he left for his bus, haltingly, as if asking a great favor, he said, "Could I please come back and stay the next time I have a treatment?  I won't put you out a bit.  I can sleep fine in a chair."  He paused a moment and then added, "Your children made me feel at home.  Grownups are bothered by my face, but children don't seem to mind."
I told him he was welcome to come again.
And, on his next trip, he arrived a little after 7 in the morning.  As a gift, he brought a big fish and a quart of the largest oysters I had ever seen!  He said he had shucked them that morning before he left so that they'd be nice and fresh.  I knew his bus left at 4:00 a.m. And I wondered what time he had to get up in order to do this for us.
In the years he came to stay overnight with us, there was never a time that he did not bring us fish or oysters or vegetables from his garden.
Other times we received packages in the mail, always by special delivery; fish and oysters packed in a box of fresh young spinach or kale, every leaf carefully washed.  Knowing that he must walk 3 miles to mail these, and knowing how little money he had made the gifts doubly precious.
When I received these little remembrances, I often thought of a comment our next-door neighbor made after he left that first morning.
"Did you keep that awful looking man last night?  I turned him away!  You can lose roomers by putting up such people!"
Maybe we did lose roomers once or twice.  But, oh!, if only they could have known him, perhaps their illnesses would have been easier to bear.
I know our family always will be grateful to have known him; from him we learned what it was to accept the bad without complaint and the good with gratitude to God.
Recently I was visiting a friend, who has a greenhouse, as she showed me her flowers, we came to the most beautiful one of all, a golden chrysanthemum, bursting with blooms.  But to my great surprise, it was growing in an old dented, rusty bucket.  I thought to myself, "If this were my plant, I'd put it in the loveliest container I had!"
My friend changed my mind.  "I ran short of pots," she explained, "and knowing how beautiful this one would be, I thought it wouldn't mind starting out in this old pail.  It's just for a little while, till I can put it out in the garden."
She must have wondered why I laughed so delightedly, but I was imagining just such a scene in heaven.
"Here's an especially beautiful one," God might have said when he came to the soul of the sweet old fisherman.  "He won't mind starting in this small body."
All this happened long ago - and now, in God's garden, how tall this lovely soul must stand.
The LORD does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7b)
Friends are very special.  They make you smile and encourage you to succeed.  They lend an ear and they share a word of praise.  Show your friends how much you care.  Pass this on, and brighten someone's day.
Nothing will happen if you do not decide to pass it along.  The only thing that will happen if you DO pass it on is that someone might smile (because of you).

(CS4U) Prayer Request Update

My brother-in-law had been in the hospital since Saturday but I didn't know. The called the ambulance because he became short of breath.  They said it wasn't his heart so maybe with him having COPD combined with the heat is why.  They did admit him though.
When I called yesterday my sister was very upset, waiting for his sister to bring him home.  The whole thing has been a mess. They were going to D/C him the day before with a blood sugar of 500!!!   He now has MRSA.  They never did an ultrasound, etc.  He's on sterioids so his blood sugar has been running high since he is diabetic.
He is home, removed the cath this morning and so far so good.  He sees the doctor a week from tomorrow.  I still wonder what the initial cause was because I think the MRSA is probably secondary (?)
Please continue to keep them in your prayers,  Thank you.
Toni

Just Stay

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.

"Your son is here," she said to the old man.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed.  All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lightedward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength.  Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake,

but I also knew he needed his son, and his

son just wasn't here.

When I realized that he was too sick to tell

whether or not I was his son,

knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

I came here tonight to find a Mr. William Grey.

His son was killed in Iraq today, and I was sent to

inform him. What was this gentleman's name?

The nurse with tears in her eyes answered,

     Mr. William Grey.............

The next time someone needs you ... just be there.  Stay.

(CS4U) CHURCH IN THE WEEDS...AWESOME

Really awesome

'CHURCH IN THE WEEDS'

Just two little boys walking down this dusty lane...
They came upon this old white house...
With broken window panes

The paint was faded, the shine was gone...
The grass had grown so high...
Still they made their little feet,

Go see what was inside.

They opened up the squeaky door and then it came to light...
This must have been an old church house... Once upon a time.

Dirty, dusty wooden pews... A pulpit that still stood....
A Bible lay upon it... Though the pages weren't too good..

An offering plate and song books too... Were lying on the floor.
They must have left this old church fast.. The day they closed these doors..

And over in the corner... A piano was still there,
It must have played a pretty tune... But I guess nobody cared.

So little Bill looked up at Tommy... And Tommy looked at Bill...

Why don't we clean this old church up, and get these old pews filled?'

They took a rag and wiped the dust... To try and make things shine...
And then they took the offering plate.. And put in it their last dime.

They took a broom and swept the floor... And picked up broken glass...
They got it all so nice and neat... And then they mowed the grass.

They lifted up the old church sign... And stood it by a tree....

Right down by that old dirt road where every one could see.

They ran back home, to find Daddy gone but their Momma was inside..

Just to find her hurt again... Where Daddy had made her cry.

'Don't cry Momma, wipe those tears,' Little Bill and Tommy smiled...
'Cause we have a big surprise for you.. Just down the road a mile..'

Hand in hand they tugged at her, until they made her run...
'What is it Bill, Oh Tommy, just what have you two kids done?'

And then they came upon the house... Once hidden by the weeds...
And there it stood a country church... Just like it used to be.

'But what is it, Mother? What's with your tears?
We thought this would bring you joy.'
'Yes, but hush kids now and listen close...

My two sweet precious boys.'

They both got quiet and stood real still... For the words they heard so true....
Was Daddy praying in the church... With his head bowed on the pew.

'Forgive me Lord! Forgive me Lord! Though I'm not worthy of Your love...
Shine down on this sinner man, sweet Salvation from above.'

'For I've been out in the world, you know... Living my life all wrong...

Until I came upon this church; the place where I belong.'

'I never noticed it before... All those times I passed it up...
I guess I wasn't looking, Lord.... Or maybe I was drunk..'

'Bless oh Lord, yes, bless oh Lord.... The one who made me see..
This little church that used to hide.... Behind all those tall weeds..'

And then he raised his head and stood... With his hands high in the air...
To find two dirty, tear-faced boys.... With Momma standing there.

They ran up to him, hugged him tight... As their tears fell on the floor.
'Don't worry kids; I'm not the Dad, the one you've known before.'

Things are different for us now... So keep on those pretty smiles..
And let's go gather people in... To walk down these church aisles.'

Then Bill looked up at Tommy... And Tommy looked at Bill...
'Come on brother, let's get to work.. To get these old pews filled.'

'For we need no special blessing.. For cleaning up this church....
'cause, God gave us back our Daddy.. And that's more than gold is worth.'

Sunday morning, pews all filled and smiles on every face..
Especially two little country boys... The ones who found this place.

Though it was hid back in the weeds... And so far out of sight...
Nothing's ever hard to find if you're walking toward God's light.

1-John 1:7 'we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.'

IN GOD WE STILL TRUST

Won't you please share this with people you want to be blessed?

Expect the unexpected...Have A Great Day!!
