Thanksgiving Cliparts and Graphics

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.
[]
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

[]
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!
[]

Wishing you all a Blessed, Happy Thanksgiving!

Toni

Re: (CS4U) Having A Wimpy Faith

This came at a time that it is needed. I have been swaying and do not like it and then God tells you to share this with us, he has spoken through you my dear friend. Bren

Having A Wimpy Faith

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17

Too many of us are getting by on wimpy faith. We are not 'putting ourselves out there,' when it comes to trusting God. There are all kinds of things that we say we believe, but we cannot really believe them - because they do not show up in the way we live. We should live in such a way that if God is not who He says He is, we will fall flat on our face. That means looking for opportunities to trust Him more; living in such a way that He has to come through for you; making decisions that will strengthen your faith for the tough times ahead. 'But how'' you ask. Paul answers, '"faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.". If someone could stick a spiritual thermometer under your tongue and read the level of your faith, the thing that would cause it to rise or fall measurably, would be the time you have spent in God's Word. 'Well, my faith's pretty low at the minute,' you say. Then we know that you have not spent enough time in God's Word! 'I wish I had your faith,' you say. Actually, there is no mystery about how to close the gap between our faith and that of others - just log more time in God's Word! Is this always easy to do? No. It calls for rearranging your priorities, taking better control of your time and putting Bible reading at the top of your 'to-do' list. But if you are serious about growing in faith, it is a price you will be willing to pay.

Prayer
Heavenly Father – thank you for giving me the tool to increase my faith, Your Word. Bury my fears – and help me plunge into your Word more each day. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Those Who Pass By
November 21, 2010

"Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger." (Lamentations 1:12)

This heartbroken lament, uttered by Jeremiah, the "weeping prophet," personifies the devastated city of Jerusalem after the Babylonian invasion. She who had been "beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, . . . the city of the great King" (Psalm 48:2), now lay in ruins, and neither the triumphant armies who had ravished her nor the careless peoples living around her cared at all that this was the city of God being chastised for her unfaithfulness.

Many Christians have, at times, felt alone and confused, longing for someone who would care, saying with the psalmist: "There was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul" (Psalm 142:4). But no one has ever been so alone or has suffered so intensely and so unjustly as the one who was the very "man of sorrows" (Isaiah 53:3). He was "smitten of God, and afflicted" in the day of God's fierce anger, for "the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:4, 6).

Just as there were those who passed by suffering Jerusalem, some gloating and others unconcerned, so there were those who passed by and viewed the suffering Savior as He hung on the cross. "And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads" (Matthew 27:39).

There are multitudes who still pass Him by today. Some revile Him; many ignore Him, altogether uncaring that He loved them and even died to save them. Soon, however, "every eye shall see him, . . . and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him" (Revelation 1:7). Their indifference will be turned quickly into mourning in that day. "Is it nothing to you?" the Lord would ask. HMM
