(CS4U) Taking That First Step!

Taking That First Step!

The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
Joshua 3:17

Just inside the Promised Land the children of Israel came face to face with a huge obstacle: the River Jordan. It was flood season so the river was impassable. God said He would provide a path through, but they had never seen anything like that happen before because most of them were not born when the Red Sea was parted. Now, God could have made the river subside before their eyes or thrown a bridge across it. But He did not. He gave Joshua some strange orders, which he in turn passed on to the people: "Command the priests to pick up the Ark and go stand in the river" (paraphrased). Then He told the people to follow. Finally, He said to expect amazing things. When you come up against a difficult situation, here are 3 things you must do: a) pray and stand on the Scriptures, bringing God into the situation b) seek out godly leadership and fall into line with it c) begin expecting great things from the Lord. Notice, nothing happened until they stepped into the water. There is a lesson here for you: nothing will change until you step out in faith. There is a new relationship waiting to be formed, a successful business or ministry to be launched, a breakthrough to be experienced - but nothing will happen until you move. The moment you quit holding back God will move to meet you, doors will open, the right people will show up and the resources will be provided. But you have to take the first step!

Prayer
Heavenly Father, The hardest part of any journey is that first step! Give me the faith to trust you in taking that first step. In Jesus' Name, Amen
