(CS4U) The Gracious Treatment By God

The Gracious Treatment By God

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:3

Many of the Epistles open with, "Grace be unto you, and peace" Why? Because we cannot experience God's peace unless we first know how to receive His grace and walk in it. There are three things about grace you need to understand: a) it cannot be earned b) it is God doing for you what you cannot do for yourself c) it usually does not kick in until you stop struggling and trying to do it your own way. James writes: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6). The humble are those who admit their total inability to succeed without God's help. But the proud are always trying to take credit. They like to think it is their ability that gets the job done, so they have difficulty asking, and even more difficulty receiving. That is why Peter writes, "Grow in grace" (2 Peter 3:18). We only learn to trust God by doing it. We grow in grace by practicing putting our trust in Him, counting on His gracious provision for each day, and His intervention in situations that are difficult or impossible for us. Face it: there will never be a day when you will not need God's grace. And if you are willing to acknowledge that you need it and receive it by faith, there will be no shortage of it. Listen: "For out of His fullness (abundance) we all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift" (John 1:16).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to daily grow in Your Grace and not only to receive it for my life but to reflect Your grace to others. In Jesus' Name, Amen
