(CS4U) Word To Women

Word To Women

My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
Isaiah 32:18

In the past stress was considered mostly a male problem, but women are catching up fast - stress that stems from pursuing perfection, looking a certain way, attempting to do it all, isolating oneself, never saying no, being unable to relax, having no time with God. This is not how God wants you to live! He said, "My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation..." So, if you want to reduce your stress levels, try these two things: 1) Pad your schedule. Since everything takes longer than you think, having enough time to complete the job helps reduce anxiety. Whenever you are under the gun, a good rule of thumb is to allow 20 percent more time than you think you will need. 2) Trade the Mercedes for a KIA! A study of 8,000 US households found that those who maintained lifestyles beyond their means were more prone to stress-related illness. Solomon says, "He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house" (Proverbs 15:27). And Paul adds: "Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves' pain" (1Timothy 6:10). "Does that mean God does not want me to get ahead in life?" No, He just wants you to keep your priorities straight and learn to enjoy where you are, on your way to where you are going.

Today, if you are feeling stressed out, pray:
"Lord, I need to be renewed. This business of living has drained me. Thank You for ordaining quiet times in the midst of hectic schedules. Help me to always put You first, and to find my place of rest in You. Amen."
