Vision – Part 2
Where there is no vision, the people perish.
Proverbs 29:18
Vision weaves four essential things into our daily living: 1) Passion. A clear, focused vision, allows you to experience ahead of time the emotions associated with an anticipated future. These emotions serve to reinforce your commitment to the vision. How? By providing a sneak preview of things to come. 2) Motivation. Vision is the reason you completed college. Think of all the seemingly wasted hours of study: science labs, American history, research papers. Much of what you were memorizing seemed like a waste of time and effort. But you did it. Why? Because of what could be. A degree: and beyond that, a dream fulfilled. 3) Direction. Vision serves as a roadmap. It simplifies the decision-making process. Anything that moves us closer to our vision gets a green light; everything else is approached with caution. Vision will prioritize your values, bring what is important to the surface and weed out anything that stands in your way. Without vision, good things will keep you from achieving great things. People without clear vision are easily distracted. They have a tendency to drift from one thing to another. They have no spiritual, relational, financial, or moral compass; consequently, they make decisions that rob them of their dreams. 4) Purpose. Vision gives you a reason to get out of bed in the morning. If you do not show up, something important will not happen. Suddenly your life matters! It matters a lot! Without you, what could be - will not be. So, protect your vision!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for being my guide, my light, my source of strength and Vision. Help me when I drift to get back into seeing things as you see things. In Jesus' Name, Amen
