Staying In Jerusalem, Until You Are Clothed With Power   I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. Luke 24:49   Jesus never intended His disciples to stay in Jerusalem. He told them, "repentance should be proclaimed, beginning from Jerusalem" (Luke 24:47). They were just to "tarry," remain there temporarily until they received power from heaven, and then use it to take the Gospel to the world. After this we read that they "returned to Jerusalem, were continually in the temple praising and blessing God" (Luke 24:52-53). Now it is one thing to wait on God for directions and the power to carry them out, it is another to keep trying to re-live some earlier experience you have had with Him. So, how did God get them out of town? Listen: "At that time the church in Jerusalem suffered terribly, the Lord's followers were scattered. Saul started arresting men and women and putting them in jail" (Acts 8:2-3). When God has a mission for you He will do whatever it takes to get you there! Before He will let you miss out on your destiny, He will permit trouble to uproot you. In fact, you may be going through certain difficulties right now because you are trying to stay where you are not supposed to be! You cannot freeze-frame your past or re-live it. When God moves, you must learn to move with Him. Philip finally ended up in Samaria where he was used by God to bring revival to the entire city. The chances are you may be going through certain trials and tests right now because God wants to use you too! So, tune in - know when it is time to move on with God!   Prayer Heavenly Father, help me move on to where it is YOU are moving and not stay in a place longer than you want me to. In Jesus' Name, Amen
