Wait! But not passively, which amounts to nothing more than laziness. Instead, wait while you keep on going ... even though the path is hard and the pace is slow. That is patient waiting.
As you wait, be hopeful: have courage of heart, wait expectantly, and wait knowing the Lord will answer. This type of waiting does require a paradigm shift - where you take your eyes off yourself and place your focus totally on Him.
But for you, O Lord, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer. Psalm 38:15 |
And remember ... God's answers come in many ways. He will often lead you to the response He has for you. It may be through your own investigation into His Word, through wisdom and guidance from godly counselors, through shifting circumstances, or by that still small voice directed from His Spirit to yours. But be assured, as David was, that God will answer.
Finally, there are rewards to be found in waiting. You will be preserved from shame (Psalm 25:3), you will enjoy integrity and uprightness (Psalm 25:21), you will be exalted (Psalm 37:34) and your heart will be strong (Psalm 27:14).
Pray today that the nation's leaders will develop the skill of patient waiting - and hear His answers more often.
