(CS4U) Following The Leader

Following The Leader

...because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Romans 8:14

The Greek word for 'led' is ago; it depicts a horse being led by a rein. It means that we should be so surrendered to God that wherever He tells us to go and whatever He tells us to do, we should obey willingly and without resistance.

But this word ago is also the root of the Greek word agon, from which we get agony. Agon pictures 'an intense conflict, such as a struggle of the human will'. It is in our nature to want our own way, so when we choose to walk in the Spirit and let Him direct our lives, His leadership creates a struggle between our old nature and our new one.

How many times as a child did you rebel against your parents' authority because you neither understood nor agreed with them? So, this verse could be translated: 'Following the leadership of the Holy Spirit is one great benefit of being a child of God, although learning to submit to Him can be an agonizing process.'

If you want to live this way God will give you the grace day by day to do it!

Just pray:

'Lord, I want to learn to follow You, not just in some things but in all things. Help me to understand Your leading and to respond to Your 'nudge' in my heart. In Jesus' Name, Amen.' Once you have prayed that prayer, just fall in step and - follow the leader!
