(CS4U) A Fresh Start - 01/01/11

A Fresh Start

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18-19

How many of you would like to have a fresh start? Many of us have made multiple mistakes in our lives as Christians. We have experienced many setbacks and failures throughout the years. Sometimes we allow our mistakes, our setbacks and our failures to enslave us to the point that we never enjoy the full Christian life that God has given us to enjoy.

In John 10:10 Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." The Devil will remind us of our past in order to keep us from enjoying the life that God gave us to live. The Devil does not want you to have a fresh start in life.

Isn't it exciting to know that God desires to give you a fresh start? God said through His prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 43:18-19 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!" We need to understand that God is far more interested in our future than He is in our past. Some people think that God is stuck on their past. That all He wants to do is remind them of the things that they have done wrong. God is more interested in your future. That's where you're going to spend the rest of your life. God says that we are not to dwell on the past, but learn from it and look toward the new things that He is going to do.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the God of new starts. Thank you for blessing me with life and the fresh start of a new year. Help me to learn from my past, to see and embrace Your forgiveness and to be faithful, obedient and available to You this new year. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen
