(CS4U) Beatitudes - Part 3

Beatitudes - Part 3

Matthew 5:5

Meekness is not weakness; it is strength harnessed for service! Jesus' definition of meekness is one of a powerful, majestic stallion that has been brought into submission. It has not lost any of its stamina. It is just that as it once had a will of its own, now it yields to the will of another. The breaking process is complete; now all it needs is a gentle tug on the reins. At Calvary, Jesus could have called down legions of angels to save Him, but instead He chose to submit to His Father's will. And He is our example. Elaborating on his pet proverb, 'Speak softly and carry a big stick,' Teddy Roosevelt said, "If a man continually blusters, a big stick will not save him; neither will speaking softly - unless there is strength behind it." That is the same principle Jesus is applying here. So, whether you are stepping out into a new opportunity or just faithfully doing what is given you to do, go about it with quiet confidence, knowing you are backed up by, and infused with, the strength of God. Meekness says,

 Prayer

"Lord, I gladly receive what You give and surrender what You demand. You not only know what is needed; You will provide it. So I surrender my all to You. Amen"
