(CS4U) Life

Life

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18

If you're like most people, you want to be in control. You want things to happen according to your wishes and according to your timetable. But sometimes, God has other plans... and He always has the final word.

All of us experience adversity and pain. As human beings with limited knowledge, we can never fully understand the will of our heavenly Father. But as believers in a compassionate God, we must always trust His providence.

When Jesus went to the Mount of Olives, as described in Luke 22, He poured out His heart to God. Jesus knew the agony that He was destined to endure, but He also knew that God's will must be done. We, like our savior, force trials that bring fear and trembling to the very depths of our souls, but like Christ, we too must ultimately seek God's will, not our own.

Are you embittered by a personal tragedy that you did not deserve and cannot understand? If so, it's time to make peace with life. It's time to forgive others, and, if necessary, to forgive yourself. It's time to accept the unchangeable past, to embrace the priceless present, and to have faith in the promise of tomorrow. It's time to trust God completely and reclaim peace – His peace.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the precious gift of life. Help me live in the present, not in the past. Empower me to focus on my blessings, not my sorrow. Give me the wisdom to be thankful for the gifts that I do have, and not bitter about the things that I don't have. Let me accept what was, let me give thanks for what is, and let me have faith in what most surely will be: the promise of eternal life in You. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen
