(CS4U) You're Living For What?

You're Living For What?

...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20:28

Service is not something to be 'tacked on' to your schedule. It is the heart of Christian living! Jesus said, "I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give My life." He summed up life in two words: serving and giving! It is not enough to keep learning, you must practice what you claim to believe. Impression without expression leads to depression. Study without service leads to stagnation. The old comparison between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea is still true. Galilee is full of life because it takes in water and also gives it out. But nothing lives in the Dead Sea because with no outflow its waters are stagnant. The last thing many of us need is another Bible study that only looks at how you feel. What are you going to do, now that you read the Word - is what you need to ask! We already know far more than we are putting into practice. What we need are serving experiences in which we can exercise our spiritual muscles. Serving is the opposite of our natural inclination. Instead of saying, "I am looking for a church that meets my needs and blesses me" - you should be praying: "Lord, show me a place where I can serve and be a blessing to others and show your Mercy and Compassion to those who do not know you." Instead of expecting others to serve you, as you grow in Christ the focus of your life should shift to serving others. The mature follower of Jesus stops asking, "Who's going to meet my needs" and starts asking, "Whose needs can I meet". So, when are you going to start asking that question?

Prayer
Heavenly Father – help me to move from Impression to Expression of your Mercy and Compassion to a world in desperate need of seeing you and knowing you! In Jesus' Name, Amen
