(CS4U) : Hungry?

Hungry?

"Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth".
Ezekiel 3:3

In his book, 'Radical', David Platt relates the story of teaching the Bible in Asia where pastors snuck into the meeting place to avoid detection and sat for hours and hours every day as he taught through the Old Testament. They were so hungry for the Word they wouldn't stop until they had consumed the entire first Testament and when they were finished begged him to continue through to the end of the Bible. They were ravenous for the Word.

Have you ever been so hungry for the Word of God that you stayed for hours at a time and days on end consuming every bit of it you could? Listen, 'For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart'. (Hebrews 4:12)

What amazing power there is in the Word of God and when we take it seriously, hunger for it, feed on it our lives are completely transformed. The very thoughts and attitudes of our hearts are judged, challenged and, if we surrender, changed. God's Word has the power to heal our deepest hurts, redeem our most foul actions, forgive our every sin, create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. This isn't really about Bible study because that's just the word about the Word. Listen, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth'. (John 1:1&14)

This is about Jesus Christ. He is the living water that eternally quenches our thirst, the Bread of Life that forever sates our hunger. If you're seriously hungry search the Bible and find the Word who will fill you to overflowing!

Prayer
Father you have provided for my every need. Move me to receive the feast you've prepared for me in your Son so that my deepest hunger, my hunger for you, will be fully satisfied. In Jesus' Precious Name I pray. Amen.
