 Pulling Strings in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. Did you ever go to a puppet show when you were a child? You have learned a thing or two since then, right? Now you understand that the puppet was powerless to make anything happen. It was the Puppet Master who pulled the strings and made the puppets dance and sing. He is the one who closed and opened the curtain at just the right time. Are you getting the idea? Your success at work, your early detection, your favorable treatment - that was just God pulling strings for you. Like an architect working from a well thought out blueprint, God blesses you because He loves to, wants to, and decides to. Before Israel ever set foot in the Promised Land, God told them He had already given it to them; all they had to do was go in and possess it. There is a lesson here: we simply carry out on earth what God has already decided in heaven. That is also why Jesus said, "without Me ye can do nothing" (John 15:5). That is nothing of eternal worth. Before He responded to others, Jesus first consulted His Father. Listen: "As I hear I [decide]" (John 5:30). He understood that 'getting everything done' means little, unless it is what God wants done! Listen: "Having made known unto us the mystery of His will" (Ephesians 1:9). Imagine living in such a way that God's will is no longer a mystery to you. That kind of life is possible - God pulling the strings and you making the moves! Prayer |
